What the things that we can learn from Peter Pan?

There will be a lot of things we can learn. As long as we open ourselves to learn.

“It is not in doing what you like, but in liking what you do that is the secret of happiness.”

The secret of happiness is to love what you are doing right now. You won’t be content if you constantly think the past and wonder what it will be if you take another road. Instead you need to focus your choice and love the present. Then, you can find the happiness.

“Just think of happy things and your heart will fly on wings forever in never never land.”

Peter Pan told Wendy, for her to fly, she needs happy thought. You need to be positive. Only that, the impossible will be possible. And whatever happens in your life, you still can stand strong.

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.”

If you do not believe you can do it, you will never succeed. You need to trust yourself more than other people. If you do not have the desire to do it, you are always bound to fail. No matter how talented you are, you need the desire and motivation to succeed. If you have the desire, the path to success will become easier.

And, “No matter how hard we try to be mature, we will always be a kid when we all get hurt and cry.”

We all feel bad sometimes. It is okay to cry when you get hurt. Cry itself is not a sign of weakness. But do not let yourself to give up quickly. Keep the desire and do not let go your wildest dreams.

There are many other lessons to learn. Only if you are willing to learn.

To talk about Peter Pan, we need to mention Neverland. An imaginary place where Peter Pan’s story take place. Neverland is an island with fairies, birds, Lost Boys, pirates, animal kingdom and other residents as its inhabitants.

Although not all people who come to Neverland cease to age, its best known resident famously refused to grow up. It is often used as a metaphor for eternal childhood, immortality and escapism.

That is the truth of Neverland. Different people may have different perspectives.

When we a child, we did not have to think a lot of problems. Our childhood was full of fun. The elders will take care of us. We went to school, played with friends and did great stuffs together. Our parents looked after us and gave the things that we wanted.

At one point of our life, when we are facing difficulties, we want to be a child again. Let others take care of us.

*

Adulthood is not easy. We face many problems and we need to take care them ourselves. You cannot depend to others anymore. You need to stand by your own feet’s. The problems are always there until we die. If we do not have strong mentality, we will slowly eaten by depression.

“Why I need to face all the problems?”

We start to question ourselves.

*

Instead of escaping the problems, we need to face it. Do not let the problems beat you. We will build our maturity by facing the problems. Life is about going forward. The past is always the past. We cannot turn back the time.

“I am not ready to be an adult”

It will be always in our mind, saying that we are not ready for adulthood. Can we live like Peter Pan? Never get old.

The rule of life, a child will always be an adult. Nobody can stay young forever. Eventually, all of us will die. Thus, instead of hoping to live as a child forever, let embrace your adulthood in the good way.

*

We cannot have Neverland. It is an imaginary world that being created by an adult. Just same as us. Neverland is a symbol of escapism and sign of refusal. Although Neverland seems an ideal world, but it is not ideal for us.

Let Neverland serves as one of our precious memories. The sign of our courage to leave our childhood and move to adulthood.
